Autonomous Driving as a Test Case for the Law and a Catalyst for Reform

Autonomous mobility is bringing about significant changes in liability and insurance law. Driver liability is giving way to the liability of vehicle keepers and manufacturers. National civil law is increasingly being superseded by EU law. Germany should expand the direct right of action – drawing on models such as those from France or Switzerland – primarily against product liability insurers.
